Making Life Managable

One thing I’ve learned this year is: when life is stressful, it’s not just about cutting things out, it’s making sure I’m putting the right things in! Things like:
An hour at the gym in the morning isn’t only healthy, it makes me feel good about myself and gives me a bit of “me […]

Summer Fun

We’ve had a lot of fun this summer at the big Lifetime pool, with our little kiddie pool at home, and at the local lake, but nothing was quite as fun as a week at Wesley Acres Family Camp!!! We took the long drive (18 hours of drive time plus stops to eat, take […]

Waterfall

I’ve been wanting to write a lot lately, but time keeps slipping by! All those things I heard most of my life, “A mother’s work is never done”, “moms don’t get sick days”, “being a mom is the hardest job ever”, and more - I never really believed it before. It’s all starting to make sense now! :-) But even as busy as the days can be, I love the quite evenings with my husband after our young kids have gone to bed. The “job” of being a mom does end for me each evening in a sense, but you’re just “on-call” all night long and often put in extra hours of overtime. But this is just a side note…

I’m not exactly sure all I want to write in these few minutes I have, but I wanted to follow up to my last blog…

Mommy Confessions

I’ve asked the same question to my “mom friends” for the past few months…

“Please tell me it gets easier!” …

Grassy Days

Summer is here!!! Well, okay - it’s still Spring until late June technically. But the outdoor pool is open at Lifetime and I’m remembering that our air conditioner is broke in the van. It’s time for shorts and tank tops, eating watermelon, and the sun shines well past dinner! I want to […]

Mom’s Group

Today was our last “mom’s group” for the year. We take a break from our weekly visits and plan on a few casual get-together until the Fall rolls around once again.

I was late this morning, because I’m a mom really - a fitting excuse. My morning started off a bit late after a night of having both my kids wake me up numerous times…

Tour of the Unknown Coast

…few people have heard of Eureka (usually because they took a trip on Hwy 101) and even fewer have really experienced the culture of Humboldt Co. But maybe it’s just one of California’s best kept secrets…

Sushi Dinner

One of my favorite lunch spots in my hometown (Eureka, CA) is Obento, a delicious sushi deli. My love for sushi began here…

Checkups!

This week was sandwiched with doctor visits. Monday I took Mercedes in for her two month checkup and we returned to Dr. Johanson on Friday for Jakob’s two year checkup…

Second Child

Being the youngest in my family and also enjoying photography I thought I’d continue to take a lot of pictures with my second baby. Naturally I have taken less than the terabyte I took with Jakob, but apparently I haven’t taken enough…

A Baby Story

I love watching TLC’s Baby Story and hearing about other people’s “labor stories.” While pregnant, I had a hard time imagining this labor any different than my first time. But it’s fun to now have a second labor story, full of both similarities and differences. I thought I’d do a brief run-through […]

Projected Due Date

When I realized today was Thursday, I remembered it was my original due date. It sure felt good to hit my due date and already have my baby in my arms! I remember anticipating that day while pregnant with Jakob and the disappointment and anxiety that followed for the week following until they […]

Still a California Girl at Heart

Even though I’ve lived in Minnesota for eight years, every Winter I still find myself puzzled or simply laughing at this frozen life here. My first few Winters I had to remind myself of all the fun aspects of a white Winter to keep from getting depressed by the cold. Outdoor ice skating, […]
